Staphylococcal bacteriophage - What is it?
Staphylococcal bacteriophage is an immunobiological preparation, a specific virus that selectively lyses Staphylococcus. It does not affect other bacteria, does not disturb the natural microflora.
Staphylococcal bacteriophage-mechanism of action?
Phage particles attach to the membrane of sensitive bacteria, penetrate into the cell and multiply at the expense of its resources. This results in cell death and the release of mature virulent phage particles capable of infecting other sensitive bacterial cells.
